The Gamma Tau Omega Chapter Heritage Award was established to congratulate the daughter or legally adopted daughter of a Soror who has been financially active for two years in the Gamma Tau Omega Chapter. The recipient eligible for this award must be a high school senior who has completed the requirements toward obtaining her high school diploma.
The William L. Coleman Award was established and named in honor of the father of Soror Ethelyn Coleman, who was a member and past president of Gamma Tau Omega Chapter, to congratulate the son or legally adopted son of a Soror who has been financially active in Gamma Tau Omega Chapter for two years. The recipient eligible for this award must be a high school senior who has completed the requirements toward obtaining his high school diploma.
The Laverna Johnson Book Scholarship was established in her honor by her family members. The recipient of this award should be, but is not limited to being, a Carver High School student who has completed the requirements toward obtaining her high school diploma.
· Recipient must be a student attending a four-year accredited college or university at the time the scholarship is awarded
· Student must be from or attending college in the Columbus, GA metropolitan area
· Student must qualify for financial aid from her college/university
· Student’s transcript must exhibit an overall GPA of 3.0 or above
· Student must meet any other criteria designed by Gamma Tau Omega Chapter of AKA Sorority
The Gwendolyn Wilkes Scholarship was initiated by her husband in her memory. This scholarship is awarded to a Columbus State University student who has met the application requirements.
