Gamma Tau Omega’s Head of the C.L.A.S.S. is an academically and socially rigorous program with an emphasis on leadership development among girls and boys in middle school grades. The following five AKAdemics will be explored:
The Anna A. Mims Heritage Bowl, named after its founder, is a community-based competition among high school age students. The competition is an annual event which takes place during Black History month. The main purpose of the competition is to help increase the knowledge of past and current Black History facts among the participants.
Gamma Tau Omega members have assisted Davis Broadcasting with its annual radiothon since inception in 1985. This radiothon raises money for needy children in the area for Christmas. Gamma Tau Omega members annually hold tutorial sessions for elementary school children to include Lonnie Jackson Academy, St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church and Elizabeth Canty Center.
Gamma Tau Omega hosts a Christmas Party for the senior citizens in the Columbus and Chattahoochee Valley area annually. The attendees are treated to a full meal with dessert, entertainment. and other holiday treats. Each attendee also receives a wrapped Christmas present to help brighten spirits of those in need during the holiday season.
